PSYCHOLOGY
This semester long course surveys the science of psychology - the scientific study of human mental processes and behavior. This course establishes a foundation on which students may better understand thought, emotion and behavior. Students will examine several contemporary theories and scientific methods used in psychology. A variety of subfields within psychology are presented and explored including learning, memory, intelligence, human development, personality, motivation, social psychology, and finally psychological disorders and their treatment. Students will also analyze several psychological case studies throughout the course. Listed below are the specific topics that will be covered in class:
- Unit 1: Intro to Psychology/The Workings of the Mind and Body
- Unit 2: The Senses/Altered States of Consciousness
- Unit 3: Abnormal Behavior
- Unit 4: Learning and Cognitive Processes
- Unit 5: Personality and Individuality (if time)
Mr. Hart utilizes Google Classroom! Please ask him for the classroom code to enroll in this class. Through Google Classroom, you will receive and submit assignments, be able to view in class notes that you might have missed, and receive class updates and announcements.
