U.S. HISTORY
This year long course is a study of the history of the United States from the American Revolution to modern times. Major topics include the American Revolution, the Civil War and the impact of slavery, the World Wars, the Cold War, the Vietnam War and counter culture movement, and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Students will examine how each of these events affected the United States as a nation on the global stage, as well as how they changed American culture. Throughout this course, students will also analyze various primary source documents to enhance their understanding of American history. Here are the units that will be covered in this course:
- Unit 1: The American Revolution
- Unit 2: The Antebellum Period
- Unit 3: The Civil War
- Unit 4: Recontruction
- Unit 5: Becoming a World Power/World War I
- Unit 6: The Great Depression
- Unit 7: World War II
- Unit 8: The Civil Rights Movement
- Unit 9: The Origins of the Cold War
- Unit 10: Culture of the 1950s
- Unit 11: The Kennedy-Johnson Years
- Unit 12: The Vietnam War
- Unit 13: Modern Times and 9/11
